[Oct 29, 11:07 AM] Samantha Garner: hahaha I agree!
[Oct 29, 11:07 AM] Debra Rosenblatt Klein: Totally agree Madison
[Oct 29, 11:07 AM] Anna Hettick: Yes!!!
[Oct 29, 11:08 AM] graceandvine: 🥧🥧🥧
[Oct 29, 11:09 AM] Ty Kilgore: Love me some apple pie!
[Oct 29, 11:09 AM] Samantha Garner: Perfect for the season
[Oct 29, 11:10 AM] Ty Kilgore: Don't get overwhelmed at this part guys!
[Oct 29, 11:11 AM] Kathleen Pope: Haha Ty, nice try! :-)
[Oct 29, 11:12 AM] Ty Kilgore: It's just important to know why you MUST research before you type in 2020 that's the main point at this part of the presentation
[Oct 29, 11:13 AM] Katie Albright Jasiewicz: We just finished up homeschool today so I'm watching now! Excited to listen to hear what you have to teach us Ty!
[Oct 29, 11:13 AM] Ty Kilgore: Katie Albright Jasiewicz - happy that you are here and welcome!
[Oct 29, 11:13 AM] Samantha Garner: new vs returning for the year I have 88%: 12%
[Oct 29, 11:14 AM] Samantha Garner: jan 1-yesterday
[Oct 29, 11:14 AM] Ty Kilgore: Samantha Garner that's about what I see across the board for most influencers
[Oct 29, 11:15 AM] Samantha Garner: 1.13 page/session ave
[Oct 29, 11:15 AM] Debra Rosenblatt Klein: 84 : 16
[Oct 29, 11:15 AM] VictoriaKabakian: new is 85%, 14% returning
[Oct 29, 11:15 AM] Erin Gierhart: 87 new/13 returning
[Oct 29, 11:16 AM] Ty Kilgore: Samantha Garner so 88% of the people that come to your site only visit 1.13 pages.. They come to read one page and leave!
[Oct 29, 11:16 AM] Kelsey Byrnes: Mine is 82 new, 17 returning
[Oct 29, 11:16 AM] speckledpalate: new = 88% returning = 12%
[Oct 29, 11:16 AM] Samantha Garner: Thank you for breaking down GA
[Oct 29, 11:16 AM] Dana McKenney Zucker: 82% new 18% return
[Oct 29, 11:17 AM] Samantha Garner: I'm not always sure what to look at beyond traffic
[Oct 29, 11:17 AM] Anna Hettick: 91% new 8% returning
[Oct 29, 11:17 AM] Taleen: New is 88% returning is 12%
[Oct 29, 11:18 AM] Ty Kilgore: I get a lot of questions about home page. From an SEO point of view the home page doesn't really get viewed it's all of your deeper pages and deeper content! They typically don't come to your home page unless they want to follow you! In that one page you have to write something that MAKES them want to follow you or opt-in to your email.
[Oct 29, 11:18 AM] Cathy Brak: 89% new; 11% returning
[Oct 29, 11:18 AM] Debra Rosenblatt Klein: :58 seconds average....what is a good session duration?
[Oct 29, 11:18 AM] Samantha Garner: Good ot k now about your home page Ty, thank you
[Oct 29, 11:19 AM] Katie Albright Jasiewicz: 86% new / 13% return
[Oct 29, 11:19 AM] Ty Kilgore: Debra Klein - it depends on the content and the recipe. Some recipes like drinks are very simple and would be a lower time but a recipe like a casserole would be longer so it depends
[Oct 29, 11:19 AM] Debra Rosenblatt Klein: got it.
[Oct 29, 11:19 AM] Ty Kilgore: from a site level the longer the better
[Oct 29, 11:20 AM] Samantha Garner: my average ws 35 seconds so I've got some work to do!
[Oct 29, 11:20 AM] Samantha Garner: Ty the real question is who is your favorite baseball team
[Oct 29, 11:21 AM] OvenHug: Hi all!
[Oct 29, 11:21 AM] OvenHug: Had some connection issues for a few there - joining late. Excited for this one. Ty I have loads of questions :)
[Oct 29, 11:21 AM] Ty Kilgore: Samantha Garner haha I grew up in Atlanta, Georgia so I'm a Braves Fan!
[Oct 29, 11:21 AM] Samantha Garner: As long as it isn't the Yankees!
[Oct 29, 11:21 AM] Samantha Garner: (Red Sox fan here)
[Oct 29, 11:21 AM] Taleen: My average is 47 seconds but the overall homepage is 2:25 (which is hopefully good?). How can I action off of this info and increase the overall?
[Oct 29, 11:21 AM] Taleen: Maybe you'll get into it :)
[Oct 29, 11:22 AM] OvenHug: where do we find those stats new vs returning real quick?
[Oct 29, 11:22 AM] Nicky Omohundro: I find that on my recipes with higher Pinterest traffic, the time on page is just a few seconds. Should I filter that out to find true time on page?
[Oct 29, 11:22 AM] Debra Rosenblatt Klein: Born and raised in LA....so, how about them Dodgers!!!!!!
[Oct 29, 11:22 AM] VictoriaKabakian: @nicky I agree that more of my Pinterest traffic seems shorter than organic, like they clicked because they saw it on Pinterest but with organic they were actually looking for it so they stay longer?
[Oct 29, 11:22 AM] Taleen: @Debra same here!
[Oct 29, 11:23 AM] Debra Rosenblatt Klein: I live in Boston now, but even my kids are LA fans....for every sport!
[Oct 29, 11:23 AM] Samantha Garner: I am very firmly in single A haha
[Oct 29, 11:23 AM] Ty Kilgore: OvenHug inside Google Analytics under audiences>behavior>new vs returning
[Oct 29, 11:23 AM] OvenHug: ok thanks! I'm catching up ;)
[Oct 29, 11:24 AM] AshleyBigFlavors: joining late - ahhhh, virtual school. lol
[Oct 29, 11:24 AM] VictoriaKabakian: @Ty, for those of us who have been blogging (as a hobby) for years and are now trying to turn things around, updating old blog posts but in some cases they are just really tough keywords. I usually try to find something related or a longer tail keyword to use but it's hard to fix old content when you never did research back in the day. What is the best way to approach that?
[Oct 29, 11:24 AM] Debra Rosenblatt Klein: Interesting....my analytics say the Pinterest peeps stay longer.
[Oct 29, 11:24 AM] Ty Kilgore: Taleen - if you don't feel like I answer it in the presentation let me know again and I can give more answers
[Oct 29, 11:24 AM] speckledpalate: This is SUCH a fantastic analogy, Ty!
[Oct 29, 11:24 AM] OvenHug: Hi Ashley!!
[Oct 29, 11:24 AM] Taleen: @Ty thank you! I'm a few min. behind so I figured you may cover it
[Oct 29, 11:24 AM] AshleyBigFlavors: Hey Bita!
[Oct 29, 11:24 AM] Anna Hettick: Hi Ashley!
[Oct 29, 11:25 AM] AshleyBigFlavors: Hey Anna!! It's been a busy day but I'm excited to dive into this session (and my ramen) lol
[Oct 29, 11:25 AM] Ty Kilgore: VictoriaKabakian - That's a great question keep watching!
[Oct 29, 11:25 AM] VictoriaKabakian: Yay! thanks I will ;-) haha
[Oct 29, 11:25 AM] Ty Kilgore: Speckledpalate - I'm glad that you enjoy it!
[Oct 29, 11:25 AM] OvenHug: I'm using the sports mombo jumbo as catch up time, lol -
[Oct 29, 11:25 AM] Kathleen Pope: Hey Erin @speckledpalate! :-)
[Oct 29, 11:25 AM] Anna Hettick: @ashley me too!
[Oct 29, 11:26 AM] Katie Albright Jasiewicz: Hi Ashley! I'm getting caught up too/cooking lunch for everyone/listening
[Oct 29, 11:26 AM] speckledpalate: Hi Kathleen!
[Oct 29, 11:26 AM] Flour de Liz: Madison, will this chat be available on the page later today? I saw the chats from the first couple days, but not yesterday, so wasn't sure if those were still being shared!
[Oct 29, 11:26 AM] Zona Maree: Watching from just outside of Atlanta, GA :)
[Oct 29, 11:26 AM] Erin Gierhart: Kathleen! Hi! Hope you are having a great day!
[Oct 29, 11:26 AM] Ty Kilgore: Zona Maree - Welcome!
[Oct 29, 11:26 AM] Zona Maree: Thanks
[Oct 29, 11:27 AM] VictoriaKabakian: where would you rank for a term (first page?) to say you are ranking for that volume?
[Oct 29, 11:28 AM] Taleen: @Victoria same question here! Is it just the 1st position terms?
[Oct 29, 11:28 AM] Samantha Garner: positions 1-10 typically I believe
[Oct 29, 11:28 AM] OvenHug: 89% new 11% returning users.
[Oct 29, 11:28 AM] AshleyBigFlavors: @Katie it's so tricky juggling it all! Plus we were having internet issues, I was trying to do my last Zumba class before I go to the hospital, and my kid's teacher was emailing constantly. It.Has.Been.A.Week. lol
[Oct 29, 11:29 AM] Ty Kilgore: VictoriaKabakian - You would have to use a tool to find the search volume for that keyword. If you need to know what you rank for then Google Search Console is your best bet
[Oct 29, 11:29 AM] VictoriaKabakian: I also use keysearch and I can see how I rank daily on various terms, but just not sure what range is good to say I rank for that volume.
[Oct 29, 11:29 AM] OvenHug: sort of missed the whole what league am I in part... but guesing I'm junior league! Madison, you'd know?
[Oct 29, 11:29 AM] OvenHug: I can try to figure it out -
[Oct 29, 11:29 AM] AshleyBigFlavors: SEO is a constant struggle - very much looking forward to this!
[Oct 29, 11:30 AM] OvenHug: I need to get better at analytics
[Oct 29, 11:30 AM] OvenHug: I hear you Ashley!!
[Oct 29, 11:30 AM] Samantha Garner: So far I'm already doing step 1 and 2 so that's good news! Thanks for the confirmation Ty
[Oct 29, 11:31 AM] Ty Kilgore: Samantha Garner - Awesome!
[Oct 29, 11:31 AM] Katie Albright Jasiewicz: Oh gosh Ashley! Best of luck to get it all done before surgery!
[Oct 29, 11:31 AM] OvenHug: get the all access so you can watch later Ashley. I have a bunch to catch up on in the future...
[Oct 29, 11:32 AM] Samantha Garner: No one like stale hard sugar cookies! haha
[Oct 29, 11:32 AM] AshleyBigFlavors: Thanks @Katie! @Bita I have the all access, I just wanted to make the workshop ones live if possible for the interaction :)
[Oct 29, 11:32 AM] OvenHug: I want a sugar cookie now
[Oct 29, 11:32 AM] OvenHug: yes the interaction is great!
[Oct 29, 11:32 AM] Ty Kilgore: Samantha - Right if it's not soft it's not going to be in my mouth!
[Oct 29, 11:32 AM] AshleyBigFlavors: I've made lots of new friends this week! So fun!
[Oct 29, 11:32 AM] OvenHug: one day we all meet in person - 'inshallah'
[Oct 29, 11:33 AM] AshleyBigFlavors: That's usually such a perk of in-person seminars/expos/conferences
[Oct 29, 11:33 AM] OvenHug: yesssss
[Oct 29, 11:33 AM] Ty Kilgore: Keyword Research is a huge topic, I would be happy to go live inside the FB group with you all to answer more questions live!
[Oct 29, 11:33 AM] OvenHug: yes please Ty!!!!!!!!!
[Oct 29, 11:33 AM] Samantha Garner: I'm actually a big fan of the virtual conferences, as someone who can't sit or stand for super long, it's nice to be able to walk around or sit when needed
[Oct 29, 11:33 AM] OvenHug: right? Samantha - I have the same can't sit long issue ;)
[Oct 29, 11:34 AM] Ty Kilgore: So, if I don't answer your question here join me live and I will be sure to answer there
[Oct 29, 11:34 AM] OvenHug: kk
[Oct 29, 11:34 AM] AshleyBigFlavors: True @Samantha
[Oct 29, 11:34 AM] OvenHug: I'll ask my two questions here in case anyone here has the same questions:
[Oct 29, 11:35 AM] Samantha Garner: I am loving this excel
[Oct 29, 11:35 AM] Ty Kilgore: Here is the link for the Keyword Research Template that I mention for you - Please make a copy first. - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1i2Ev2rh9ABzgvZTfJn3GQ0VWmWeHv1Kfq0kqt_7yxVo/edit?usp=sharing
[Oct 29, 11:35 AM] OvenHug: I have many Persian food recipes. Since our language is Farsi (totally different alphabet), I don't know how to spell it for key words. For example we have a delicacy, crunchy bottom of the rice thing called 'tadigh' and there are about 6 ways to spell that: 'tadeeg, tadeegh, ...' you get the picture
[Oct 29, 11:36 AM] Omaily Lucas Mustiola: @Ty: What if my recipe is a bit more "creative". For example saffron butter (totally made that up). Do you recommend changing the wording for something that is more searchable? For example: flavored butter recipe with saffron
[Oct 29, 11:36 AM] OvenHug: Do I use all the spellings or choose one?
[Oct 29, 11:36 AM] Ty Kilgore: OvenHug - so systematic search is your friend I would spell it correctly and then in the post mention additional spellings as well as a pronouncing guide
[Oct 29, 11:37 AM] Samantha Garner: I love keyword everywhere
[Oct 29, 11:38 AM] OvenHug: Oh boy, I need a class on this Ty -
[Oct 29, 11:38 AM] Ty Kilgore: Omaily Lucas Mustiola - I would changing up the wording in the post blog but in a informative way include the correct way it's called. You see this a lot in the different areas of the country people call things different things depending on where they live
[Oct 29, 11:38 AM] Ty Kilgore: OvenHug - Yes, this a big topic and needs to be understood in a step by step way
[Oct 29, 11:38 AM] OvenHug: What do you mean 'spell it correctly'? If it's not an English word
[Oct 29, 11:38 AM] Taleen: If you embed a YT video in the post, does Google automatically detect that and does it help you rank vs. a post without a video? Should you include (VIDEO) in the title like some of these sugar cookie examples?
[Oct 29, 11:39 AM] Katie Albright Jasiewicz: Oh Taleen great question!
[Oct 29, 11:39 AM] Ty Kilgore: OvenHug - oh I see I thought you were talking about writing it in your language. If you are writing it in english then I would research how people are writing it and be sure that's included in your post
[Oct 29, 11:39 AM] Katie Albright Jasiewicz: I have a how to make pasta recipe that does well, but it's oldddddd and is on my update list. In my title it says video in it and I have wondered if there is any value in keeping the video portion
[Oct 29, 11:40 AM] OvenHug: Ok thank you. So it sounds like using multiple spellings - for that example I have folks use all sorts of versions. Thank you!
[Oct 29, 11:40 AM] OvenHug: 'seen'
[Oct 29, 11:41 AM] Ty Kilgore: Taleen - the answer is IF Google is displaying 8 out of 10 page one results that have videos then that's what they are rewarding. For other keywords they might not be rewarding videos on the first page so it depends on the research
[Oct 29, 11:41 AM] Hari Chandana Ponnaluri: @Taleen I am wondering the same!
[Oct 29, 11:43 AM] Samantha Garner: Didn't know you could highlight the stars!
[Oct 29, 11:43 AM] Ty Kilgore: It depending on if a video can help the user. Or if you need to do something to help improve your content over your competitors
[Oct 29, 11:43 AM] Ty Kilgore: Samantha Garner - its a fun tool!
[Oct 29, 11:43 AM] Susan: Now I want a sugar cookie...
[Oct 29, 11:43 AM] Katie Albright Jasiewicz: So Ty I guess I should look to see what "how to make pasta" is showing on the first page of Google before I determine if I want to include video in the title?
[Oct 29, 11:43 AM] Ty Kilgore: Susan - the struggle was real when I filmed this!
[Oct 29, 11:43 AM] Thelowcarbmuse : Hi,
[Oct 29, 11:44 AM] Susan: !! I bet
[Oct 29, 11:44 AM] Ty Kilgore: Katie Albright Jasiewicz - YES! Research determines EVERYTHING! (sorry I got excited and didn't mean to yell at you in all caps!)
[Oct 29, 11:44 AM] Samantha Garner: I love that you say "you're purchasing your itme back" because that is SO TRUE
[Oct 29, 11:45 AM] OvenHug: @susan, I keep trying to take this in but all I can think of is soft sugar cookies, lol!
[Oct 29, 11:45 AM] Gunjan: I usually put H1 as ingredients and h4 as how to . Am i wrong here? When i put H3 for how to Yoast gives warning. Can you please tell me what is the right way to handle this.
[Oct 29, 11:45 AM] Ty Kilgore: Samantha Garner - Time is the most important resource that runs out!
[Oct 29, 11:45 AM] Michelle: is there a google sheets version of the spreadsheet? When I click the spreadsheet it downloads it to my computer
[Oct 29, 11:45 AM] Ty Kilgore: Michelle - try this link - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1i2Ev2rh9ABzgvZTfJn3GQ0VWmWeHv1Kfq0kqt_7yxVo/edit?usp=sharing
[Oct 29, 11:46 AM] Michelle: Ty, thanks!
[Oct 29, 11:46 AM] Katie Albright Jasiewicz: LOL okay thanks. I have been doing TONS of SEO/Research since end of May and updating 15-25 old recipes each month. I finally started reaping some rewards of all the hard work last month as my search traffic is officially double then my Pinterest traffic! Pinterest has always been my #1!
[Oct 29, 11:47 AM] Kathleen Pope: That's awesome Katie Albright Jasiewicz! #goals
[Oct 29, 11:47 AM] Samantha Garner: Congrats Katie!
[Oct 29, 11:47 AM] Samantha Garner: How do you determine what you update in a month
[Oct 29, 11:47 AM] Kelsey Byrnes: Ty - I've been using semrush (sharing with a friend)....it's pricy, especially in comparison to keywords everywhere!!
[Oct 29, 11:47 AM] OvenHug: So great Katie! yes, goals!!
[Oct 29, 11:48 AM] Dana McKenney Zucker: So Ty- if you are adding a “table of content” to up you SEO ranking - should you have keywords in it too?
[Oct 29, 11:48 AM] Gunjan: @Ty , I usually put H1 as ingredients and h4 as how to . Am i wrong here? When i put H3 for how to Yoast gives warning. Can you please tell me what is the right way to handle this.
[Oct 29, 11:48 AM] Samantha Garner: Ty what's are your thoughts on keysearch?
[Oct 29, 11:49 AM] Ty Kilgore: Gunjan - it depends on the level of keyword and where you want to place it inside the post
[Oct 29, 11:49 AM] Katie Albright Jasiewicz: Thank you! I just started really diving into SEO over the past year. I've been blogging for 11 years next month and pretty much put my head in the sand at all SEO stuff. Wish I would have dove in YEARSSSSS ago before kids! lol Slow and steady truly wins the race!
[Oct 29, 11:49 AM] Thelowcarbmuse : Can you please explain key word cannibalization. Is it wrong to have 10 different chocolate chip cookies ( keyword being chocolate chip cookies)
[Oct 29, 11:50 AM] Ty Kilgore: Katie Albright Jasiewicz - Congrats! that's awesome!
[Oct 29, 11:50 AM] Katie Albright Jasiewicz: Thank you!
[Oct 29, 11:50 AM] Katie Albright Jasiewicz: I still have a longggggg way to go!
[Oct 29, 11:50 AM] graceandvine: Thanks for the All Access Pass plug! It's GOOOLDDDD
[Oct 29, 11:50 AM] graceandvine: https://thefoodbloggersummit.com/checkout/?add-to-cart=5091
[Oct 29, 11:50 AM] OvenHug: what time are you going live?
[Oct 29, 11:50 AM] Kathleen Pope: Been using Keywords everywhere for awhile and didn't know of this feature of saving keywords! Thanks!
[Oct 29, 11:50 AM] Ty Kilgore: Samantha Garner - I like to update the lowest hanging fruit of posts and keywords that allow me to get the most value out of it
[Oct 29, 11:51 AM] Samantha Garner: thank you!
[Oct 29, 11:52 AM] Ty Kilgore: Thelowcarbmuse - It's not wrong as long as the keyword research shows that you should have 10 different ones. Research is key here
[Oct 29, 11:52 AM] Thelowcarbmuse : Is it true that in the structure of post You can’t go from H2 to H3 and back to H2 based on the need of your post.
[Oct 29, 11:52 AM] AshleyBigFlavors: Agreed @Katie - starting before SEO was a "thing" makes it a ton of work but it's soooo worth it
[Oct 29, 11:53 AM] Ty Kilgore: OvenHug - that's a good question. graceandvine - is there a good time for me to go live inside the FB group?
[Oct 29, 11:53 AM] Omaily Lucas Mustiola: Man so much good info, Ty. I will come back with pen and paper. Also just realized I actually met you last year at ALT Summit. Completely random.
[Oct 29, 11:53 AM] Ty Kilgore: Thelowcarbmuse - no that's not true you can change your post
[Oct 29, 11:54 AM] Gunjan: @Ty , I use keysearch , is that good or should i shift to keyword everywhere.
[Oct 29, 11:54 AM] Ty Kilgore: Omaily Lucas Mustiola - That's awesome! Well hello again! ALT Summit was fun. Loved Palm Springs!
[Oct 29, 11:54 AM] OvenHug: Are you saying to use either Keywords Everywhere or Uber Suggest or both?
[Oct 29, 11:54 AM] Candi Elm: If you are looking at your data and see some of your top pages but maybe they are only on the page 5-6 seconds. Should you focus on those low time on page updates? vs ones with longer time on page?
[Oct 29, 11:55 AM] OvenHug: I want to go to Palm Springs.... lol
[Oct 29, 11:55 AM] Ty Kilgore: Gunjan - I haven't used keysearch so I can't give an opinion on it
[Oct 29, 11:55 AM] Gunjan: ok. Thank you Ty
[Oct 29, 11:56 AM] Ty Kilgore: OvenHug - Because I'm a crazy person I use a lot of tools because of the different databases
[Oct 29, 11:56 AM] OvenHug: k so you use both
[Oct 29, 11:56 AM] OvenHug: key words everywhere is $10 is Uber Suggest free?
[Oct 29, 11:56 AM] Thelowcarbmuse : Thank you Ty
[Oct 29, 11:56 AM] Ty Kilgore: Candi Elm - For those pages does it make sense that visitors are only spending 5-6 seconds?
[Oct 29, 11:57 AM] Samantha Garner: I appreciate you showing different tools, it's hard to make a decision sometimes!
[Oct 29, 11:57 AM] graceandvine: Ty, do you like Keysearch?
[Oct 29, 11:57 AM] OvenHug: I think I used Uber Suggest for a little... Madison you use keyword everywhere right?
[Oct 29, 11:58 AM] Erin Gierhart: Do you give consideration to competiveness, or just volume? And with either answer, why?
[Oct 29, 11:58 AM] Ty Kilgore: graceandvine - I haven't use Keysearch I love trying out new tools though
[Oct 29, 11:58 AM] graceandvine: No, Ovenhug I use Keysearch :)
[Oct 29, 11:58 AM] OvenHug: Oh!!
[Oct 29, 11:58 AM] graceandvine: Gotcha! I really like it :)
[Oct 29, 11:58 AM] Samantha Garner: I like it too Madison! It's not nearly as expensive as semrush
[Oct 29, 11:58 AM] OvenHug: How much is Key Search M?
[Oct 29, 11:58 AM] Gunjan: @graceandvine, I also use keyserach and so far I am happy.
[Oct 29, 11:59 AM] graceandvine: Ovenhug, I think you already have an account 😬
[Oct 29, 11:59 AM] OvenHug: Oh!
[Oct 29, 11:59 AM] OvenHug: great!!
[Oct 29, 11:59 AM] Katie Albright Jasiewicz: I use Keysearch and keywords everywhere, too! :) I like both!
[Oct 29, 11:59 AM] OvenHug: I thought I used uber suggest, free in the past
[Oct 29, 11:59 AM] Ty Kilgore: Erin Gierhart - I don't really look at the competitiveness metric just the volume one because I know the higher the volume the harder the keyword I don't need the competiveness metric
[Oct 29, 12:00 PM] Ty Kilgore: graceandvine when would be a good time for me to go live inside the FB group?
[Oct 29, 12:01 PM] graceandvine: Right after is fine :)
[Oct 29, 12:02 PM] Ty Kilgore: sweet I will go live inside the group right after for anyone that can join me!
[Oct 29, 12:02 PM] Samantha Garner: Sometimes I make recipes because I like them, they are competitve and I probably wont rank for them, but I can internaly link and they might do well on pinterest, do you all still do it?
[Oct 29, 12:02 PM] Samantha Garner: Sometimes I just really like a recipe haha
[Oct 29, 12:03 PM] Ty Kilgore: Samantha Garner - there are times when a recipe isn't a SEO play, and I understand that.
[Oct 29, 12:04 PM] Erin Gierhart: For questions, is it okay to just include those questions in the Gutenberg FAQ block, or do they need to be individual H2s throughout the post?
[Oct 29, 12:04 PM] Debra Rosenblatt Klein: Good question Erin.
[Oct 29, 12:04 PM] Katie Albright Jasiewicz: So far from what I've watched this has been great! I have to run but plan to listen to the rest later! Thank you again Ty!
[Oct 29, 12:05 PM] Ty Kilgore: Erin Gierhart - FAQ block provides structured data to your post that helpful for Google. Depending on the amount of questions that you are answering if might depend on which one you use. default should be the FAQ block though
[Oct 29, 12:05 PM] Erin Gierhart: Perfect, thanks!
[Oct 29, 12:05 PM] Ty Kilgore: Katie Albright Jasiewicz - happy to have you here! thank you!
[Oct 29, 12:06 PM] OvenHug: I can't see what the name of the curren tool is
[Oct 29, 12:07 PM] OvenHug: Ahrefs?
[Oct 29, 12:07 PM] Ty Kilgore: it's called AHREFS
[Oct 29, 12:07 PM] OvenHug: thanks
[Oct 29, 12:07 PM] OvenHug: and that's another option like key search, uber suggest, etc?
[Oct 29, 12:07 PM] OvenHug: sorry I think I need to rewatch
[Oct 29, 12:08 PM] Ty Kilgore: AHREFS is a more robust tool like SEMRush and cost around 100 US per month
[Oct 29, 12:08 PM] Skye H: oh my so much of this is foreign to me!
[Oct 29, 12:08 PM] OvenHug: oh so AHREFS and SEMRush is for A league!
[Oct 29, 12:08 PM] OvenHug: not me, lol
[Oct 29, 12:08 PM] Ty Kilgore: Skye H - that's okay the first step is just being here and learning. be patience with yourself
[Oct 29, 12:09 PM] Samantha Garner: Great point Ty!
[Oct 29, 12:09 PM] Ty Kilgore: I didn't learn how to do this in a hour and half training
[Oct 29, 12:09 PM] Cathy Brak: Thanks for asking, Erin G. I had the same question!
[Oct 29, 12:09 PM] Skye H: Ty this will definitely be a rewatch a few times
[Oct 29, 12:09 PM] OvenHug: good points, many thanks
[Oct 29, 12:14 PM] Samantha Garner: Ty, I'm on step 5 of the presentation and it says to look at the top 10 queries in GSC to see what you're getting traffic for
[Oct 29, 12:14 PM] Samantha Garner: but what if they are mostly the same 3-4 pages?
[Oct 29, 12:16 PM] Ty Kilgore: Samantha Garner - that would make sense for most I will need to drive into one during the live to explain it best it's a little hard to do that in a chat
[Oct 29, 12:16 PM] Samantha Garner: That makes sense
[Oct 29, 12:17 PM] Debra Rosenblatt Klein: which URL will you pick to grown into for the future?
[Oct 29, 12:18 PM] Zona Maree: If we want to use/buy just one tool, which do you recommend that has everything we need and is easy to use?
[Oct 29, 12:22 PM] Ty Kilgore: Zona Maree - just for keyword research I would pick up keyword everywhere. If you are wanting a tool that does more than just keyword research I would select something like SEMRush or AHREF (only when you are ready to use them)
[Oct 29, 12:22 PM] Samantha Garner: After posting a new recipe, how long until it should rank
[Oct 29, 12:23 PM] Ty Kilgore: Samantha Garner - thats a great question and it depends on what league you are in and what the search volume is for the keyword that you are wanting to rank for. Could take a day or take a year just depends on those factors.
[Oct 29, 12:24 PM] Samantha Garner: Good to know!
[Oct 29, 12:24 PM] Samantha Garner: Ty you not knowing what royal icing has me LOLing
[Oct 29, 12:25 PM] Ty Kilgore: Samantha Garner - working with food bloggers this isn't the first time and won't be the last time that I don't know what something that is talked about in a blog post is!
[Oct 29, 12:25 PM] Wining with Mel: Am I alone in wondering how small-time bloggers like me are supposed to compete with bigger organizations that have entire teams devoted to SEO? My blog is my side hustle - it's hard to find time to go through all these steps in addition to everything else lol.
[Oct 29, 12:26 PM] Samantha Garner: This presentation is based on already having the recipe and then writing it, but don't some people do the opposite. Do keyword research and then develope a recipe?
[Oct 29, 12:26 PM] Samantha Garner: Does it just depend on what flows with you?
[Oct 29, 12:27 PM] OvenHug: @winingwithmel I hear you. It's a lot. I wear 4 different hats at all times. It's a lot to take in.
[Oct 29, 12:27 PM] Ty Kilgore: Winning With Mel - I can understand that. The process once understood helps you know what to write and how to write it. It's a important step. This is how the big organizations with teams are performing SEO research. It's something that can be learned and developed over time
[Oct 29, 12:27 PM] Wining with Mel: I am totally overwhelmed by this presentation! ;-)
[Oct 29, 12:28 PM] Lisa Johnson: So am I Wining with Mel!!
[Oct 29, 12:28 PM] Debra Rosenblatt Klein: I've taken Tys online course....there is plenty of time to go step by step and learn these things more in depth
[Oct 29, 12:28 PM] OvenHug: Don't worry. It slowly starts to sink in. This is probably my 3rd round watching the master, that's you Ty! Over the years... just take one thing away. baby steps
[Oct 29, 12:28 PM] Ty Kilgore: Samantha Garner - correct the process is the same, After performing this research you can then go into the backend of wordpress you know what to write
[Oct 29, 12:29 PM] Wining with Mel: You're right, @OvenHug. One step at a time! I suppose it eventually becomes second nature.
[Oct 29, 12:29 PM] Samantha Garner: Ty, say you go through this and then you go back 6-12 months later and you're not ranking, what else can you do to rank? internal links?
[Oct 29, 12:30 PM] Anna Hettick: I am finding it a bit overwhelming as well, BUT I love how Ty has walked through all the steps, keyword research is something I definitely need to improve on! I feel like I have lots of actionable steps now to improve greatly!
[Oct 29, 12:30 PM] Susan: Thanks Ty! Looking forward to digging into more of the information on your site.
[Oct 29, 12:30 PM] Ty Kilgore: Winning with Mel & Lisa Johnson - again just showing up is the first step. I have been doing this for over a decade. Learning a new skill is something that you can develop over time. The same is true when you learned how to cook it's the same with SEO. Just be patient with yourself and it will start to make sense!
[Oct 29, 12:30 PM] Kathleen Pope: Thank you so much Ty!
[Oct 29, 12:30 PM] Anna Hettick: Thank you so much!!!
[Oct 29, 12:31 PM] speckledpalate: Thank you, Ty! This was super helpful!
[Oct 29, 12:31 PM] Ty Kilgore: Samantha Garner - Now that's a presentation for another day!
[Oct 29, 12:31 PM] Samantha Garner: hahaha fair enough
[Oct 29, 12:31 PM] Wining with Mel: I guess it's also challenging to see how to apply this to my site since I don't do recipes. I do wine reviews.
[Oct 29, 12:31 PM] Ty Kilgore: Anna Hettick - Yay! I'm happy to hear this!
[Oct 29, 12:31 PM] Dana McKenney Zucker: Thank you Ty
[Oct 29, 12:32 PM] Gitta Grether-Sweeney: Thank you! This was helpful. Now I need to implement it.

[Oct 29, 12:32 PM] VictoriaKabakian: Thanks, Ty!

[Oct 29, 2:15 PM] Guest8140: 80/20 new/retuning
[Oct 29, 3:10 PM] Guest1208: Just finished watching this...it was so informative! Thank you! A quick question about implementing. How do you rank for all those terms and still have the post sound natural? When choosing just one term and trying to get a keyword density over 1% but under 2% it feels like a stretch at times. Thanks again. Working on a blog post now so this was quite timely.
[Oct 30, 12:47 AM] Shilpi Karner: Just watching the replay !! how awesome is this presentation!! so informative
